For this process to be of real benefit the mock-ups need to be full-size part-sections, capable of demonstrating different water flows and effects. They often allow for testing of alternative finishing details, for example where stonework needs to have a specific relationship to the water. We also use mock-ups to experiment with different types and positions of illumination in order to arrive at definitive design solutions for a lighting system.
We feel that empirical testing and observation are central to the design process, allowing informed judgements to be made and proven which then shape the definitive design. We have selected a few images of recently constructed mock-ups, and have sought to illustrate how they have influenced completed schemes.
