Elephant Park, Elephant and Castle

Known locally as 'Elephant Springs,' new interactive jets and cascades have been added to one of London's most iconic districts, creating a play area for all ages.

An exciting and interactive public space has been added to the Elephant and Castle area. This space consists of a multi-layered environment which blends water and hard landscaping in a way which encourages safe but adventurous play.

Our Artist in Residence Mel Chantrey was particularly involved in this project. Known as Elephant Springs, the Park encourages safe but adventurous play, attracting children to explore the rocks, pathways, and play equipment. There are two slides as well as a water pump, which add to the interactive feel of the Park. Mel also worked on a number of our other interactive water features, including Tumbling Bay at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the water feature at Folkestone Harbour Square.

Elephant Park was awarded the New London Award for Placemaking in 2021.
